Prior to starting his college career, Jared was considered a top 40 defensive tackle nationwide by all major scouting services. During the 2021 season, Jared saw action in 11 games and made eight starts as one of the team's top contributors on defensive line. That year, he finished with 18 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks.
